MESSAGE FROM THE DOCTOR

June, 2002

This past year has again past all too quickly. First of all, many many thanks to Joyce Newport, the Webmaster of this site, which has done a tremendous job setting it up and maintaining it as we add new cases and letters, articles to the site. THANK YOU JOYCE !!!

Last summer passed pretty uneventfully, and last fall, I returned to Beijing for a month to see my expatriate clients there at the San Yuan Clinic. See photo of my colleagues and a photo of the Clinic. There were also visits to colleagues who were starting up their own clinic. This spring, the clinics were now all up and running and in fact, the City of Beijing put on a Pet Fair for pet owners, the first ever in Beijing sponsored by the government. We were very pleased to see the progress and foresightedness of the government. The turnout was very good. See the photo of the Pet Fair too.

While in China this spring, I am proud to announce that the Hebei Agricultural University's College of Veterinary Medicine made me an Honorary Visiting Guest Professor in a ceremony attended by many of the students as well as the Faculty and Administration. It was truly an honor and plan on doing everything possible to help them bring Chinese Traditional Veterinary Medicine into the twenty-first century through more outside contacts.

Christmas Holidays we were back here in California, but made a quick trip back to Toronto to see friends and family for the Holidays. This spring, I attended the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society's Chinese Herb Course for veterinarians certified in acupuncture. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet both new and old friends and to learn more.

This brings us up to last month, when the Alameda County Veterinary Medical Association here in California invited me to speak to the membership. It was well received, and there was much interest in the topic, "Does Acupuncture Have a Place in my Practice ?"

I would lastly, like to announce my association with the Berkeley Special Veterinary Services Group in Berkeley, located at Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital. We are a group of specialists with services in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Radiology, Ultrasound, Surgery, and Acupuncture andTraditional Chinese Medicine. This has enabled me to expand my services to many of you in the outer San Francisco Bay Area where my house call practice is unable to accommodate you.

Please view some of the recently added case reports on what acupuncture for animals can do for your pet, and view photographs of my recent activities.

You can e-mail me anytime, anywhere for more information on your personal situation.

Regards to all and have a great summer.
Ann-si Li, DVM, OMD
