MESSAGE FROM THE DOCTOR

June, 2001

It has been nearly 18 months since my last letter and theres a lot to report these past months. Things have been incredibly busy between practice, speaking engagements, travel, and a recent personal death in the family. We come to appreciate life so much more when we experience loss.

This winter I was invited to speak at the Midwest Veterinary States Conference in Columbus, Ohio. It was the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Veterinary Acupuncturists (AAVA) and they had invited me to give a series of introductory lectures on veterinary acupuncture for the attendees that might not be so familiar with this modality. It was nicely received and hopefully everyone came away with a better understanding of what it all means. Parts of these talks will be posted on this webpage for your reference.

The foreign expert that was mentioned in my previous Letter did indeed come to China to lecture. In fact, Dr. Alan Stewart of the San Francisco Veterinary Medical Specialists lectured not only in Beijing, but also in Shanghai, Canton, and Hong Kong to veterinarians both Chinese and foreign. He was very well received, having been sponsored by Waltham Nutrition for which we must thank for their support.

The expatriate practice that I began in Beijing is now up and running all year round, again thanks to the sponsorship of Waltham Nutrition, who not only decorated the clinic, but produced a brochure as well as a poster that is being distributed all over the City.

This spring, I was invited again by Waltham Nutrition to lecture to the Hong Kong veterinarians on acupuncture. Photos of this talk and the three workshops that accompanied the talk will be put up on this website as well.

It was well received and the interest is truly growing as more and more clients are asking for this service.

In addition, at the Asia for Animals Conference in Manila, the Hong Kong SPCA invited me to present a brief report on the status of animals and their welfare in Beijing and China. This was truly an eye opener to me to meet veterinarians and other animal welfare workers from all over Asia.

My practice continues to grow in the San Francisco Bay Area. Most recently there have been several cases of Wobbler Syndrome in the Doberman Pinscher that weve seen, with some success.

Please view some of the recent case reports on what acupuncture for animals can do for your pet.

You can e-mail me anytime, anywhere for more information on your personal situation.

Regards to all and have a great summer.
