Jessie is an 11 year old Labrador-cross who was diagnosed with chronic active hepatitis.
Originally a robust healthy 60 lb. black lab, she was down to alittle over 50 lb. and not
able to digest much. She was having severe diarrhea, and although she wasn't vomiting,
her appetite was very poor and she was burping a lot. Her person could hear alot of
rumbling in her abdomen (called "borborygmi").
Jessie was not digesting her food, passing much which her person was feeding her. Through her blood tests, it was evident that she not only experiencing the effects of her liver disease, but that her condition had spread to her pancreas and much of her Western medications were not helping her condition. By getting her off some of her Western medications, and shifting her treatment more towards her pancreatitis, we were able to control her diarrhea and weight loss. Within two weeks, she was eating well, gaining weight, and her diarrhea was getting much better. At the end of a month, we could reduce her nutritional supplements, and concentrate on assisting her liver to get stronger. She continues to improve with each blood test, and has regained all of her weight loss. Throughout her ordeal, Jessie is to be complimented for her sunny disposition and cheerful cooperation with her medications and treatments. Thanks to her regular veterinarian and acupuncturist, Kirsten Williams, DVM for this
referral.
